Family Law Mediation
Lower the volume - mediate.
After earning a J.D. from the UCLA School of Law, attorney-mediator Mark J. Warfel has handled family law matters - including divorce, child custody, and support matters -  for more than 800 clients, witnessing first-hand how the court procedures, the rules of evidence, and the desire to "get more of less" creates powerful incentives for divorcing families and their lawyers to fight, haggle, and spend - but never bend.

A former high school teacher and debate coach, Mark has seen the effects of high parental conflict on children of all ages and abilities. He believes that each of us has the ability to learn new skills and problem-solving techniques to avoid unnecessary conflicts and expensive court battles.

While successfully litigating divorce cases with the "zealous advocacy" required by an attorney's Professional Ethics, mediator Mark Warfel has seen too many litigants who strive to "win more of less" - shrinking the family resources, emotional health, and spirituality out of fear that the other party will "win" in the courtroom. That being said, not every case can be resolved through mediation - occasionally the only approach is to litigate a matter in the courtroom.

Mark has received advanced mediation training from many of the best mediators in the region, including top mediators from the Dispute Resolution Services, Inc., a nonprofit corporation set up by the Los Angeles County Bar Association. As a neutral, Mark is trained to facilitate resolutions arrived at voluntarily by the parties.

Be smart - mediate.
